Sony/ATV’s Drake has won 12 honors at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards, establishing him as the most decorated artist in the event’s history. His dozen wins at the annual event held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas took his career total of Billboard awards to 27. This moved him ahead of fellow Sony/TV songwriter Taylor Swift who has won 23 awards in total.
Drake’s victories at this year’s event included Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Streaming Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album (Scorpion), Top Hot 100 Artist. Top Song Sales Artist, Top Rap Artist, Top Rap Male Artist and Top Rap Album (Scorpion).
Sony/ATV songwriters Cardi B, Ella Mai, BTS and The Chainsmokers were also multiple winners on the night.
Having received 21 nominations, Cardi B won six awards for Top Hot 100 Song, Top Collaboration, Top Radio Song and Top Selling Song for “Girls Like You” with Maroon 5, Top Rap Song for “I Like It” with Bad Bunny and J Balvin and Top Rap Female Artist. Ella Mai took three honors for Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Female Artist and Top R&B Song for “Boo’d Up”. BTS won Top Duo/Group and Top Social Artist, while The Chainsmokers won Top Dance/Electronic Artist and Top Dance/Electronic Album (Sick Boy).
Among Sony/ATV’s other winners was Ed Sheeran who was named Top Touring Artist and Travis Scott who won Top Streaming Song (Audio) for “Sicko Mode”, while the company’s signings Taylor Swift (with Brendon Urie), Maluma (with Madonna), Khalid and BTS all performed.
