Dingo Bill director shoots 'My Name is…and I’m an Alcoholic’ documentary through Knickerbockerglory

Dingo Bill’s Mikey Trotter has directed another thought provoking and engaging documentary. Independent Production Company, Knickerbockerglory enlisted Mikey for the Channel 5 one-hour film, which looks at the life of eight British Alcoholics. Each story takes us on a journey from first drinks to hitting rock bottom. We also witness their slow recovery and eventual sobriety.

Initially the film poses the questions: ‘What makes alcoholics drink?’ and ‘How do you try and get sober?'

We live in a society that is awash with alcohol. Amazingly 8 million Britons are considered to be alcohol dependent. Let’s face it who amongst us does not have a family member, friend or colleague whose life is not being damaged by the bottle? This groundbreaking documentary investigates the incredibly honest stories of eight people who have had a tumultuous relationship with booze.

One element is clear throughout. The clichéd views one may have about alcohol and its dependents will be banished after watching this film. Alcohol is society’s great leveller. It can affect anyone. No matter where we’re from or how successful we may be it’s easy to fall into its clutches.

Amongst all the gloom is a great story of hope and determination. The documentary is a must see as Mikey’s sensitive direction brings home the importance of our awareness and ability to deal with this resonating subject.
