Chicago-based boutique production company Minimal Productions has added Brooklyn-based commercial director Josh Cohen to their creative roster.
Josh is a multi-disciplinary director, writer, and designer. He is a self-taught filmmaker with a background in art direction, as evidenced through his meticulous sense of colour, composition, and production design. His playfulness and sense of humour lend a sense of wit and irreverence to his growing body of work.
Josh’s design-driven collaborations include projects with studios, agencies, corporations, start-ups, and established brands in various creative capacities. His clients include Netflix, Casper, IBM, MTV, Xero, Lola, Quip, and Droga5, among others.
“I met Will Meyers and Kris Rey-Talley, executive producer and head of production at Minimal, through Antonio Santos who’s already signed with them,” Josh shares. “I could tell it’d be a good fit by how collaborative and in tune Will and Kris are. I always push my vision as far as I can, and Minimal is absolutely ready to support and contribute.”
“Josh brings the brand story to life in every film he creates,” says Will Meyers. “He has a distinct visual style and humour that shines through in the creative collaboration and in the worlds he builds. We’re thrilled to have him join our roster - he’s a great fit for us, with his brand-focused and beautifully art-directed work.”
Josh’s addition is another facet of Minimal’s recent growth. The nascent company - founded just a year ago - also recently added Sarah Gitersonke, founder and agent with SG+Partners, as their new Midwest director sales representative, expanding the scope of potential partnerships for their talent along with Sharon & Perry in the Southwest.
