Comedy director Brad Lubin has signed to MindsEye. Originally from DC, Brad Lubin’s first film was shot at age 11, when he directed himself in the role of Vanilla Ice in a music video for Ice Ice Baby. It was met with much acclaim. “Better than the original,” said Brad’s mum. Since then, Brad has worked under The Farrelly brothers and Craig Gillespie while he counts Harold Einstein amongst his mentors.
Brad was recently nominated as D&AD 2016 best new director and featured in SHOOT magazine’s New Directors Showcase in the US. Along with these recent accolades, Brad was nominated for the Young Director Award at Cannes in 2015
Brad’s comedic style is accessible but aspirational, cinematically infusing interesting characters and grounded, situational comedy with a sense of honesty that makes you laugh out loud.
Brad, on joining MindsEye, said: “The D&AD young directors nomination really got my work noticed in the UK. I feel very fortunate that MindsEye was one of the companies who got in touch. I have huge respect for their roster and their devotion to comedy, once I had also met Hughie and Charlie, I knew they were the perfect fit for me.”
