Mercer joined the agency in May 2016 as VP, Digital Strategy Director

“In a constantly shifting landscape, Rachel fluidly navigates digital platforms and consistently delivers compelling digital experiences for both consumers and brands,” noted Val DiFebo, CEO of the New York office of Deutsch, who announced today the promotion of Rachel Mercer to SVP, Head of Digital Strategy and Invention. “We’re excited to acknowledge the significant impact she has made at Deutsch.”

Since joining in May 2016, as VP, Digital Strategy Director, Rachel has amplified the output of Deutsch’s New York digital strategy department offering and, in addition to delivering incremental new business, was key in winning the social and digital business for AB InBev’s Busch brand.  She also led and sold Deutsch’s first consulting project, helping to shift the output of the agency for one of the top three entertainment companies in the business. Day to day, Rachel utilises her strengths in strategy to oversee all digital and social outputs across clients like Sherwin-Williams, Green Giant, and PNC Bank.

Prior to Deutsch, Rachel worked at consulting firm The Upside in London as Strategy & Innovation Director, focusing on building business opportunities for clients including Adidas, Google and Kiehl’s. While with Made By Many, Rachel was one of the developers of Hackaball, which was named one of TIME’s Best Inventions of 2015. She is also a Deutsch alum, having worked in the agency’s LA office, where she worked on the development of the Esurance Fuelcaster, which incorporated pricing signals from industry sources to estimate whether gas prices will rise or fall in a specific ZIP code. In addition, she has designed and developed products at companies such as CP+B and Mobelux.

Rachel is a regular guest speaker at her alma mater VCU Brandcenter, as well as Northeastern University and Hyper Island. She was recently honoured as one of The Drum’s 50 Under 30, a look at achieving women making their mark in digital, as well as one of Business Insiders 30 most creative people in advertising under 30 in 2014.
