Brisbane creative community to auction off unique bowling pin art to raise funds for Youngcare

Brisbane's advertising community are creating art from the humble bowling pin in the name of charity. Post production studio, Cutting Edge, has announced it will be hosting a unique charity art exhibition and auction, with all proceeds going to Youngcare. The event will be held on Thursday, April 19 from 7:00pm at Cutting Edge in Brisbane.

Titled 'CEX' the project challenged members of Brisbane advertising's creative community to transform an ordinary bowling pin into a work of art. The results are both varied and spectacular, demonstrating the unique points of view from artists who work across different mediums and advertising professions.

To attend the auction, you can RSVP your spot at cuttingedge.com.au/cex.

Says Blaize Bennett of Cutting Edge: "Brisbane has one of Australia's most impressive advertising communities. The ideas and artistry that come from this town are some of the best in the country. We pitched the challenge and artists enthusiastically jumped at the chance to get involved and support young Australians with high care needs."

On the evening of April 19, Cutting Edge, will display and auction bowling pins which were distributed amongst Brisbane advertising's best minds with the instruction, "make art." Creatives from Cutting Edge, PublicisQ, Clemenger, BCM and Y&R have all lent their creative talents in support of Youngcare.

Showcasing Brisbane's creative talent, the 'CEX' exhibition and auction will feature pieces from animators, designers, editors and VFX artists from Cutting Edge, in addition to pins from advertising agencies, creatives and freelancers.

Taking part in the creative challenge, Cutting Edge editor and motion graphics designer, Matt Kelly, hoped his art piece Ten Pin Groot, will raise vital funds for Youngcare on auction night.

Says Kelly: "I have always been a massive fan of concept art for cinema, video and gaming, and after seeing Marvel's concept designs for Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy, I wanted to test my skills to see if I could create my own representation of the character."

Auctioneer and real estate guru, Paul Liddy, will call the auction on behalf of Youngcare.

Says Liddy: "The bowling pins are complete transformations of an everyday object. Each is a unique pieces of art, with one artist designing and crafting his pin into a working coffee machine."

With 19 bowling pins going under the hammer, Youngcare co-founder and Cutting Edge managing director, Matthew Lawson explained, too many young Australians with high care needs are being left behind.

Says Lawson: "All young people deserve the freedom to choose where they live, who they live with and how they live their lives. We are working towards making sure young Australians with high care needs can choose where they call home."
