Turbo Kid has collected accolades at every major film festival in the world since January. Last weekend it began collecting accolades in cinemas throughout the US and Canada.

Turbo Kid has won audience and reviewer accolades at Sundance, SFSX, Edinburgh Film Festival, Sydney Film Festival, New Zealand International Film Festival, SIFF (Seattle International Film Festival) and Fantaspoa in Brazil.

It screened at The Awesome Fest in Philadelphia on July 3 and the Fantasia International Film Festival in Canada on July 7th 2015.

It won the Midnighters Audience Award at SFSX. And Best Art Direction and Best Feature / Audience Award at Fantaspoa.

Turbo Kid’s official trailer, released to YouTube on June 17th was uploaded and viewed more than 1 million times on just one film review site in three days.

And with the title, Official Selection Sundance 2015 under its belt, it also won cinema distribution throughout the US (Epic Pictures) and distribution in the UK (Lionsgate).

So on Friday August 28, Turbo Kid began filling cinemas throughout the US and Canada.

And while the film created by writer/director trio, RKSS (aka, Anouk Whissell, François Simard and Yoann-Karl Whissell), made by EMA Films and T&A Films and edited and post produced at Curious Film collected reviews like, “One of the Most Anticipated Films of 2015,” [Fox Force Five News] and “A perfect pastiche that never mocks its inspirations,” [The Hollywood Reporter], a whole new wave of applause began. The applause of ordinary people makes films profitable. And rewards its creators most.

This was a special project for Curious. Since 2010, it has invested in “distinctive cinema, innovatively conceived, which will directly benefit from a bespoke, focused marketing approach.” It has taken risks. The Rocket was one that rewarded Curious with world acclaim. Ida was another.

Turbo Kid is different. This “distinctive cinema” is winning acclaim for Curious’ post production and editing. The film was perfected at Curious’ post production facilities in New Zealand under the leadership of Luke Haigh. The filmic sophistication, of what is at its heart a black comedy gore-fest, is one of its most notable shocks. Its elegant plot reveal, interwoven themes and rich characterisation – and ultimately, its success and its likeability - were perfected in post.
