Chicago Sun-Times has announced that is has joined Vox's digital editorial arm, Chorus.

This partnership marks the latest media organisation, and first newspaper publisher, to join Chorus, which officially began welcoming external publishers this summer.

“The Sun-Times is a name that Chicago knows and loves, from the depth and integrity of its journalism to the hustle of the newsroom out-scooping its competitors” said Trei Brundrett, Chief Operating Officer of Vox Media. “Vox Media shares these values and is proud to champion the Sun-Times on Chorus. I’m excited to work together to define the future of local news.”

Vox Media and the Sun-Times will launch the Sun-Times on the Chorus platform in early 2019. As the longest continuously published daily newspaper in Chicago, the Sun-Times is committed to serving the Chicago community through in-depth investigative journalism, breaking news, sports coverage and local political reporting that rises frequently to the national stage. Chorus will ensure that the Sun-Times newsroom is fully supported and allows its talented journalists to keep pace with the rigors of the daily news cycle.

“The Chicago Sun-Times shares much of the same DNA as Vox Media and Chorus, particularly in how we think about high-quality journalism and engaging our audiences,” said Edwin Eisendrath, CEO of the Chicago Sun-Times. “We are committed to providing our hard-working journalists with the best tools available to deliver the news every single day, and to giving our audiences the best online experience possible. We worked hard to evaluate all of the options in the market, and we’re convinced there is no better publishing platform out there for a modern media company than Chorus. On top of that, Trei and the team at Vox Media are terrific partners.”

As part of the new partnership with Vox Media, the Sun-Times will also join Concert, Vox Media’s publisher-led marketplace that offers trusted, high-fidelity advertising solutions, to better serve their advertising and sponsorship partners, and provide more efficient advertising solutions at scale.

Chorus’ existing roster of premium and iconic editorial brands includes the Vox Media networks, including Vox, Recode, Eater and The Verge; sports and pop culture website The Ringer; and comedy video platform Funny Or Die, serving as the best-in-class platform for content management, multi-platform distribution, editorial data insights, integrated advertising, and a suite of sophisticated publishing tools.
