Chevrolet & Commonwealth//McCann Use Leap Year as Reason to #DayItForward

McCann North America, 6 months, 4 weeks ago

People and celebs across America spend their extra day performing unexpected good deeds

Chevrolet & Commonwealth//McCann Use Leap Year as Reason to #DayItForward

Today Chevrolet celebrates an extra 24 hours with a campaign from Commonwealth//McCann. With this leap year, Chevrolet asks, “What would you do, to do something nice for someone who doesn’t expect it?”

Celebrities, communities and dealers are answering in force by performing acts of unanticipated kindness. Chevrolet calls this effort #DayItForward, and amazing stories of generosity have been popping up across the country.

Chevrolet empowered celebrities to #DayItForward and their response has been tremendous:

·        Award-winning Actor and philanthropist Kevin Spacey decided to surprise a performing arts student, Diontae Simpson with a grant that will support the young man to pursue his dreams.  In addition, a partnership with the Kevin Spacey Foundation will ensure that he is supported with mentoring and assistance as he applies to drama schools and continues to hone his craft.

·        Major league pitcher and thyroid cancer survivor, Daniel Norris of the Detroit Tigers spent a day at the ballpark hosting a young fan battling the same disease. Before the day ended, Norris surprised his guest and his family with a trip to Florida to watch the team during spring training.

#DayItForward continued as Chevrolet worked with the communities to highlight people who already go above their call of duty, including Chevrolet teamed up with nine-year old “Super Ewan,” who spends his free time helping the less fortunate in Detroit, delivering meals to those in need.

As #DayItForward grew, the Chevrolet Dealer Network embraced the movement as well. From recognizing a long-tenured employee’s dedication to his dealership to helping furnish a local high school’s music department with new instruments, the acts of kindness have embodied the spirit of what makes #DayItForward so special.

To help promote all of these activities, Chevrolet engaged Twitter, and worked with the social networking service to create a custom emoji that enables users all over the world to share how they #DayItForward.

So the question remains, with ten months left in this leap year, how will you #DayItForward? For inspiration go to chevydayitforward.com and see all the latest stories of good deeds, then tag @Chevrolet and let them know how you plan to #DayItForward.
