Salamandra on the power of explainer videos and what they could do for your brand

Here’s a little challenge for you. Take a guess to see how many seconds it would take for you to explain your business story. Remember that number. Now, take a wild guess how many seconds it would take Salamandra to explain our business story.

If you were close to around 30 seconds, you weren’t far off. In fact, it takes 37 seconds to tell our business story. Yes, just 37 seconds. And in that time, you get to know who we are, what we’re about, what we do and how we can help our customers. You may be thinking "how can you possibly say all that in 37 seconds?" Well, that’s the beauty of storytelling (and animation!).

Here’s another test for you. Try and fit your business story within 30 seconds. How did you do? There’s no denying it can be challenging, so if you struggled, don’t fret. All we can say is get ready because we’re about to revolutionise your business life (and story). But before we carry on, here’s our business story in the form of an animation explainer:

The form of communication, especially between businesses and consumers has drastically changed to what it used to be, and this is all down to video media.

And video is one of the platforms where storytelling happens. The use of video has been a massive turning point for 2017, and according to Forbes, in 4 years time, video content will be over 80% of all consumer internet traffic. It’s the visual aspect that attracts people in; the days of reading long articles is starting to fade away. So our next question to you is, why aren’t you using this powerful form of media for your business? Your first thought might be, ‘video wouldn’t work in our business’. If that was what you were thinking, well you’re wrong, and we’ll tell you why…you’ll just have to hang on.

Storytelling comes in all different shapes, forms and sizes. Salamandra, for example, offers a range of services ranging from animation to branding to web design. And each platform is able to provide a story for the customer – it may be a different way to tell a story, however, it’s still a story. But the important part is how you tell your story. The essential aspects of storytelling have to be engaging, universally understood, creative, surprising and flexible for your audience. And so for us, animation, branding and web design are able to provide all of the above.

Whichever industry your business sits in, it has a story to tell. And in the millennial state of mind, there’s a growing attachment to the story of the company; it can be the deciding factor. So let’s put our focus on animation. Animation gives you a lot of freedom in how you can tell your business story, from whatever industry; it’s a visual universal language that’s open to most businesses.

According to Dream Grow, visual information is processed a lot faster than text, and when we say a lot, to be specific, it’s around 60,000x faster than text. Mind-blowing right? So you’re probably thinking if animation is that great, why isn’t every single business using it? Well, the problem lies with many companies not realising that animation can suit their industry. And we’re determined to remove this view. One of the beauties of animation is that it’s not limited. It’s a memorable way to showcase your story which will undoubtedly make you immediately stand out from your competitors. But that’s not all. It gets better. You can re-purpose your animation. You can showcase it on your website, on social media, in PowerPoint presentations, oh and it can also be used for your email signatures. The list could go on, but we think you get the idea. It’s an engaging and an attractive powerful form of media that can tell any business story, especially corporate companies.

So here’s another question for you. Would you consider placing animation in the same category as the finance industry? Chances are most of you are thinking ‘nope!’. Well, actually you’re wrong. It’s probably the most fitting (and underestimated) form of media to use within this type industry. But for those who thought ‘yes’, you deserve a hi-five. To really understand what we mean, take a look at one of our explainer animations we created for Artemis Fund Managers:

As you can see, an idea that was once complex in words has been told in a way that’s engaging, pleasing to the eye, understandable, shareable, and of course memorable.

Are you slightly more convinced that animation can be suited to your industry to help tell your business story? Well, we hope so, because we promise you it’s one of the most effective ways for your business to tell a story, and we can guarantee you that we’ll all be seeing this type of media a lot more in 2018 so either #watchtthisspace or get a head start to the race and give your business a story that can be told in an irresistible way. So if you want that special something to tell your story, give us a call!
