Last night the British Arrows held a
double celebration as they celebrated their 40th birthday and
another year of advertising excellence. The British Arrows Awards 2016 were
hosted by David Mitchell, at Battersea Evolution in London, and it was their
most spectacular night to date.
In total, 5 special awards, 17 gold and 33
silver arrows were presented. The Advertising Agency of the Year, who picked up
an unprecedented 36 arrows in total, was AMVBBDO. The coveted award was
sponsored by Talent Republic, who added even more glamour to the night by
inviting special guest Stanley Tucci to present the award.
With multiple arrows for multiple campaigns,
the Production Company of the Year award, sponsored by Panalux, was picked up
by Outsider whilst global alcoholic drinks brand Diageo, Guinness was presented
with the Advertiser of Excellence Award, sponsored by the Walker Art Centre.
This year’s tongue-in-cheek Christmas commercial,
Spare The Act Laptop, for Currys PC
World won a record four gold and three silver arrows and picked up the sought
after Commercial of the Year Award, sponsored by Thinkbox. This advert accrued golds
in the Retailer category, Best Over 90 Second TV Commercial using paid-for
media, Best over 60 and up to 90 second TV Commercial, Computer, Hardware &
Office Equipment and the Series Laptop;
TV; Nespresso; Cooker won the Gold and Silver for UK TV Series and UK
Cinema Series.
Jury Chairwoman Rosie Arnold comments, “After years of speculation about the demise of film, the signs are that it is not only alive and well but positively booming. The long length Christmas extravaganzas have raised the bar for the whole year. We found ourselves laughing out loud again and again. The brilliant talent and brains who have thought up, bought or crafted the work that won tonight are the reason I still love this business.”
The British Arrows 2016 Chairman’s Award was
presented to Kim Papworth and Tony Davidson, Global Partners of Wieden+Kennedy.
