Post production shop’s London offering expands significantly to provide more opportunities under one roof
London based award-winning post production facility Big Buoy has just opened up bigger doors.

Based in the heart of Soho, Big Buoy has expanded its offering to provide the full end-to end service, giving its clients the chance to work under one roof and create high-end film and television content for their productions.

Managing Directors, Jim Allen and Colin Sumsion are thrilled with the expansion of their successful company, now in operation for over 18 years.

Joining Executive Producer Kristy May Currie and Business Development Director Barny Wright as part of Big Buoy’s management team are Executive Producer Donna Head and Head of Production, Andy Salem.

“It’s actually been a seamless union,” Donna Head says. “The team fit so well and we are really happy to be working together” Andy Salem adds, “The atmosphere on the production floor is buzzing. There is a lot of passion to do great work and respect within the team, which is just brilliant”.

Combined the new team have a wealth of experience across all media platforms and intend to grow the existing film and TV commercial business into increased areas of TV drama, feature film, interactive media, audio, music and digital content.

“We’re excited about the new Bigger Buoy, there is much more we can bring to the table when we get a script in…working alongside creatives and directors we can pitch ideas to clients in a much more efficient, cost effective and collaborative way – we are also driving a lot more of the creative, which is what we love to do most” says Jim Allen, MD and VFX supervisor.

Big Buoy’s new offering includes high-end grading and audio suites – with teams led by legendary Colourist Mark Horrobin and Sound Engineer expert Scott Little. “We are thrilled to join the Big Buoy family” agree Mark and Scott. “Big Buoy’s reputation in the industry is consistently up there with the best, and they are always creating impressive and innovative work” Horrobin adds. As well as new colour grading and audio suites, Big Buoy have improved motion graphics animation and design studios and an expanded CGI outreach with studios and artists based in London, Amsterdam and New York.

Barny Wright says of the new setup: “We are very skilled at what we do and now we have an even greater team of talented experts to call upon. I look forward to putting them all to the challenge.”

Colin Sumsion, founder and chief editor of Big Chop, Big Buoy’s offline facility welcomes new editors to the fold as well as their offices in Amsterdam, New York and LA. Big Chop’s editors have vast experience across TV and Film in all genres. Having recently won GOLD awards in 2017 for Best Editor at Cannes Lions, British Arrows Craft Awards and D&AD they are also driving new creative platforms for content.

Big Chop’s recent mini-doco style content film campaign released in February 2018 for Range Rover’s “Dragon Challenge’, edited by Colin and directed by Sam Brown and Tom Barbor-Might (Rogue Films & Carnage) received massive global attention with downloading and streaming figures blowing most branded-content campaigns out of the water. “I’m over the moon with the new changes in the company, for Big Buoy and for Big Chop”, Colin says. We’re very proud of the talented teams and vast experience we have on deck in the UK and abroad now…and can’t wait to get stuck into some more exciting projects in 2018”.

With a boutique-style feel and client service, Big Buoy’s point of difference has been its intimate creative and collaborative “family-like” approach with its creatives, directors and clients. The company ethos has been driven by building ideas and making them greater, and not just fulfilling a brief.

Kristy May Currie, executive producer says: “Expanding Big Buoy’s creative service offering puts us alongside our larger competitors but we will always be the place you can come to for a creative chat and a cuppa.”

Big Buoy are ready for bigger things this year, there will be a lot coming from them in the near future, so watch this space.
