Three part series explores the credibility of a pandemic apocalypse and its consequences for mankind

Working for client Ubisoft, Paris and London-based digital agency Biborg created the dramatic mini web documentary series “Into Chaos” to accompany the launch of Tom Clancy's The Division, a post-pandemic thriller video game. The 3-part series creates a parallelism between the game and reality to explore the credibility of a pandemic apocalypse and its consequences for mankind.

The game itself, the latest release in Ubisoft’s long list of hits, is set in New York in the aftermath of a smallpox pandemic. The main character is an agent from the Homeland Division, ("The Division"), who helps investigate the outbreak and combat criminal activity. Biborg teamed up with production companies R+I Creative and VICE Germany to create the documentary which intermingles real facts and interviews with experts in bio-terrorism and national security, and elements of The Division’s universe. Each of the 13-minute long chapters focuses on a different theme and relates it to skills needed to master the game:

“The Collapse” explores questions related to the history, spread and survival of smallpox.

“Man vs Chaos” challenges you to think about how you would prepare and protect yourself, gather water, food and find shelter.

“Rise of Factions” discusses the possibility of the outbreak of a deadly virus in New York, its affect on human behavior, and ensuing lawlessness.
