Adidas Originals has released a provocative new campaign for the re-launch of the brand’s most iconic shoe: the Superstar.
Johannes Leonardo created the entire campaign which launched with a 90 second film featuring Pharrell Williams, Rita Ora, David Beckham and Damian Lillard. The agency picked up global creative duties for adidas Originals in mid-2014 from Sid Lee.
The film, shot in black and white, questions the current notion of “superstardom” with each celebrity suggesting that a fame-obsessed world is not what defines a real superstar.
The launch film will be accompanied by six shorter films, including a 30-second film to launch Pharrell’s upcoming Supercolor line. Takeovers in Times Square and Madison Square Garden, in addition to digital and social media efforts, will support the campaign.
