Trevor Beattie feasts on the Sharks

Trevor Beattie and his 5 jurors brought the house down in Kinsale, Ireland with their selection of international award winners at the 48th Kinsale Shark Awards. With entries from over 25 countries and all the major agency networks, the festival proved there is always a desire to bite into the best the ad world has to offer.

Described by Sir John Hegarty as the Glastonbury of advertising festivals, the agenda for the two-day show was action packed with delegates treated to a host of great events including an inspirational session hosted by Hegarty and his fellow amigos, Billy Mawhinney and Max Forsythe.

The Sharks is the second oldest ad festival in the world and 2010 was its 48th consecutive show since opening the doors in 1963. Unique in the world of creative festivals, every piece of work in every category is viewed and awarded by a single jury of just 6 people (excluding only the promo which are judged by a specialist panel). The Sharks guarantee the entrant, that the same jury view their work with the same exacting standards as applied to every other piece in the show, regardless of medium, budget or category. The festival broke with its long held tradition of only celebrating broadcast media when it opened up to print in 2009 and then digital in 2010.
