The Production Service Network has appointed Álvaro Torrellas as its first europe production liaison.
Álvaro is a producer-director who brings nearly two decades of narrative filmmaking experience to his new role. His featured documentary 3 Minutes was part of the official competition at the SEFF Festival 2014. This led to participation in festivals worldwide including Berlin, Giffoni, Eurimages, and Cinema Verité. He is currently director and creative director of all the films and audiovisual content at the UAE Mobility Pavilion at the Dubai Expo 2020, working in collaboration with Weta (Blade Runner, Lord of the Rings) and Magnopus (Hugo by Martin Scorsese).
Álvaro knows the challenges of overseas commercial and long-format filmmaking first-hand. His knowledge is an asset to producers shooting in territories outside their comfort zone. He can communicate with them in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Portuguese.
A graduate of the R.C. Mahar Regional High School in Orange (Massachusetts), he majored in journalism at USP-CEU (Madrid) and has a Master's Degree in Film and TV Production and Direction. He has also studied in France (Chambéry, Montpellier, and Paris) and Germany (Berlin and Munich). He's currently based in Seville, Spain.
