Alt.vfx has today launched its latest creative
offering, T&DA - a spinoff entity that combines its R&D and
design divisions to focus on end to end creative solutions.
Over
the past several years, the Alt group has grown from VFX and
post-production to encompass more experimental and creative technologies
through the company's Alt.R&D arm. Across many varied projects and
having gained valuable practical experience in these areas in recent
years, the company has taken the next step by creating the new
standalone brand, bringing in design expertise with the addition of some
key hires.
Says Colin Renshaw, CEO, Alt: "We started
Alt.R&D to bring a sharper focus to emerging technologies, and we
have watched it grow into something much more. We road-tested the
technologies, the creative approach, and worked out where these kinds of
experiences and skills could bring outcomes for our clients. When Piotr
Stopniak joined us last year, we found that his design experience and
expertise gave the department a new edge, something that directly led to
the formation of T&DA."
Piotr Stopniak - formerly of acclaimed design studio Toby & Pete -
has been named as creative director of design for T&DA. With a body
of work that includes stage design for Grammy-nominated artist Flume and
large-scale light installations for the likes of Lexus and
Semi-Permanent, Stopniak hopes to continue his love of lasers in his new
role. Alongside Stopniak, Raymond Leung - formerly of The Mill NY - is
now T&DA's creative director of technology, bringing a vast
experience across design and emergent creative technologies to the
table.
Through a partnership with Facebook, T&DA has created
experiences for the likes of Cadbury, NRMA and Netflix, working with
leading agencies such as Ogilvy, The Monkeys and We Are Social. The
company has also created a unique interactive museum installation for
the Road to Zero exhibition at the Melbourne Museum, one that utilises
real-time technologies to offer a valuable learning experience for
visitors. Elsewhere, T&DA has also worked directly with brand
marketers, collaborating with the team at Falken Tyres to devise, design
and produce a standalone AR application that rolled out to over 500
dealerships nationwide.
Says Renshaw: "We are technologists and
designers that are here to assist creatives find the right approach and
solutions for their everyday problems. We are already working with
agencies, brands, record companies and Government departments in
Australia and internationally through our offices in Los Angeles and
Tokyo. Being part of the wider Alt group also means that we have a
breadth of talent and specialisms available to us, allowing us to tap
into the resources of one of the world's top VFX companies whenever a
project requires it."
Executive producer Tyrone Estephan will
continue to work across both Alt.vfx and T&DA projects and is joined
by head of business development, Mark Millar.
