Australia is increasingly vulnerable to drought and the impacts of changing climate conditions. The challenge of managing drought and other extreme climatic events means our primary producers need tools to plan and manage their livelihoods.

Idea

DR. SAT is a Drought Resilience Self-Assessment tool that enables farmers to assess their unique resilience through a farm-scale assessment of their exposure to drought and other climate risks, based on economic, personal, social and environmental indicators.

Impact

DR. SAT presents a huge opportunity for our 85,400 farm businesses in Australia, equipping farmers with practical insights about their environmental, economic, social, and personal resilience situation, along with adaptation pathways and supporting resources. It puts the power of knowledge at their fingertips, giving them the opportunity to proactively make changes to reduce their risk. For once Australia’s farmers can be one step ahead of the elements.
