In keeping with the core idea of the previous “Alpen effect” campaign, this new commercial re-establishes the relationship between chocolate eating and an optimistic outlook on life. Shot on the Alexa on location in Ukraine, our dedicated VFX team set to work on turning the existing footage in to the director’s vision. This included replacing the sign on the front of the cinema, extending the netted lights, changing the colours of the neon and adding a new billboard image. The interior of the Cinema was dramatically enhanced with added screens and heavy vignetting, transforming a not so inspiring location into an inviting reception area. Particular items of clothing of people in the queue were also changed on request of the client. Carl Prechezer’s vision for this comedy performance driven film was to highlight the romanticism of the piece, adding out of focus sparkles behind the characters and introducing additional colour palettes of pink and blue throughout with use of lighting and grade. The commercial tells the story of a couple on a date, possibly even their first date. We open on our young male waiting outside a cinema, his stomach is fluttering, heart beating as he waits. In his hands we see he is holding gifts of flowers and box of Alpen Composition chocolates. Arriving a little late, our heroine runs to meet him and accepts the gifts with a wry smile. But as they enter the cinema they notice that they are now at the back of a huge queue for tickets. Our male seems disappointed and a pessimistic bubble pops up above his head. However in contrast our heroine takes a chocolate and then has a “light bulb” moment where she gets an idea and this is punctuated with the optimistic bubble above her head. She then offers the people in front of her a chocolate from the box of composition. Our male runs through a series of expressions, at first he’s shocked, then embarrassed, then impressed as she walks down the queue offering chocolates to the people in front of them, whist each time gaining a place further down the line. We cut back to our guy as he peers past the people in front of him, reminding us that he’s still at the back of the queue. Our heroine reaches the front of the queue and orders 2 tickets and then finally our couple share a joint optimistic moment as they eat a chocolate and take their seats to enjoy the movie.
