In 2008, Asda decided that it wanted to take its Asda Direct and George Clothing business online, to reflect growing demand from its 18 million store customers. The goals were simple – establish an online business that helped Asda to generate more turnover and profit, reinforce the relationship with existing customers and attract new ones. At the time, Asda did not have the IT infrastructure in place to take its business online, but specified an aggressive timetable in a formal procurement process, stating that it wanted a solution up and running within six months.

Asda chose Salesforce Commerce Cloud’s industry leading digital commerce platform as the technology to meet their immediate goals and longer term aspirations. With the Isobar Commerce team, Asda was able to: Launch a brand new online store in under six months, expand internationally, save delivery costs with click and collect which serves 60% of web-orders, implement PayPal to support mobile payments and expand the brands product range and increase sales with a dropship vendor programme.
