Beauty Bay - Play Around
Feed Me Light was made up to be working with the team at Saatchi & Saatchi Digital to create 4 videos to help promote online make-up store Beauty Bay, which offers a huge selection of up-market beauty products for global beauty brands.
We were briefed to promote Beauty Bay as a standalone brand, and therefore not to concentrate on any of the product-lines that the company sold. With this in mind, the team worked on a concept that brought a playful, smart and sophisticated look and feel to the production.
Taking a journey through the typical day, we start at home in our ‘Morning’ video where our character is getting ready for the day ahead. Here we show some old ‘grey’ products being thrown away, and an entire new and exciting range purchased on the online Beauty Bay store. The video then moves into the ‘Evening’ scene, offering the character an opportunity to try something different or new from the wide product range.
The idea of ‘playing’ with make-up was kept in mind from the start. Research showed that most women use the same 5 make up products every day… but Beauty Bay wanted to challenge that and, encourage women to experiment with more and keep exploring. As part of the playfulness we wanted to incorporate a sense of magic to the video with sleight of hand and trickery. This keeps the viewer engaged in the video and allowed for a more sophisticated take on the classic stop motion technique.
