Safe and Sound: Health Matters

Murrays, the market leaders in the distribution of health and beauty products, were looking to increase their stake in the domestic health and safety market with their Safe & Sound brand. With nearly 50 years in the business, they felt now was the time to break into TV and create their very own TV commercial. To do this, they decided to bypass going through an advertising agency and came straight to Mummu. The objective was to create a fun and family orientated 20” commercial that would appeal to the 35+ homemaker demographic, simultaneously highlighting three products from the brand. Mummu began by developing a story concept around a day in the life of Mum, and how she would use Murrays products to help other family members. We wanted the story to be relatable to the audience, so we developed a series of family characters that were quirky and fun without being too clichéd. Before rushing in to design the characters, Mummu presented to Murrays a profile for each family member which included their personality traits; a fashionable homemaker Mum, a gentle rugby player Dad, and an independent Gran. With a clear idea of the story and characters, Mummu were able to present a storyboard and initial character designs to Murrays, giving them a choice of everything from Mum’s hair style to Dad’s rugby shirt. A stage much enjoyed by the Murrays team. “We were particularly impressed with the high standard of work and attention to detail throughout the process, from producing storyboards to character development.” Tom Eastwood, Buying Director – Murrays Health & Beauty Once the animation team had polished off and coloured their last key frames, the advert was composited in After Effects. The production team then swiftly uploaded the animation to digital distributers Adstream, who delivered the advert to 40+ channels. “The Mummu team were able to look at our original ideas and take them to the next level, which resulted in a high-end TVC that exceeded our expectations, was on brand and remained within budget.” Tom Eastwood, Buying Director – Murrays Health & Beauty
