Advice for surviving Cannes?
Drink water – lots of it.
Also, eat cheese. There’s a fantastic fromagerie in Rue Meynadier that will sort you out. Personal preference is the Saint Félicien and the Pont L'Évêque. They will also vacuum pack any cheese for you for the journey home. Everyone on board the flight will be grateful.
Good luck with finding the cracker section in the Monoprix though – it’s not as obvious as you might think.
Don’t stress about the bar prices at the hotels and The Gutter Bar. It’s Cannes. You’re in advertising. Them’s the rules. You can fume away, but the bar staff are just doing their job.
Finally, have a swim. Or at least have a paddle. It’s going to be hot and if you’re at the LBB Beach then it’s rude not to. Don’t be embarrassed. No one else is.
What’s going to be the hot topic of conversation?
The ZOO crew (Julian, Joe & Kier) will be talking speedy creation of captions and audio description for ads in any language.
This means they will probably have few friends at the LBB Beach, so please – do them a favour and talk to them about something else…
The other hot topic is clever technical integration, but see the point above about lack of friends.
