Cannes Young Lions competitors give their time for free to support important charity campaigns

The Institute of Advertising Practitioners in Ireland has today announced the charity partners who are set to benefit from the 2018 Cannes Young Lions initiative which is now open for entries. Concern Worldwide, Epilepsy Ireland, Suas and CheckTheRegister.ie are the elected charities for 2018 and will each have valuable creative campaigns developed for them as part of the entry process for the Irish heat of the international Cannes Lions competition.

Suas are set to benefit from a creative print and PR campaign, Concern Worldwide will receive substantial support from a six-week film advertising campaign while Epilepsy Ireland gain a strategic media and integrated social media campaign which spans three social media platforms. CheckTheRegister.ie will be supported by the Young Marketers competition.

Speaking on this year’s campaign, Tania Banotti, CEO of IAPI said: "We’re delighted to announce this year’s Cannes Young Lions charity partners – this is a huge campaign, not just for our young creatives who get to showcase their talents but also for our charities who benefit from these innovative and most importantly, free campaigns which help propel them into the public sphere across our most effective media platforms."

Rick O’Shea, Patron for Epilepsy Ireland who was diagnosed with epilepsy aged 16 said: "Advertising, PR and digital campaigns are significant investments for charities year in, year out and we at Epilepsy Ireland are incredibly lucky and excited to be chosen by IAPI this year. We can’t wait to see, what we have no doubt will be, ground-breaking campaign ideas."

Celebrating the creative industry in Ireland, 2018 will see IAPI sending 12 of Ireland’s brightest creative minds to compete at the prestigious Cannes Lions Festival, the worlds most respected advertising awards festival. The Irish cohort will compete against global talent on the ground in Cannes across seven various categories – Print, film, PR, social media and media along with a designated category for Young Marketers.

2017 was a hugely successful year for Team Ireland at Cannes Lions Festival, with Emma Wilson and Kyle Schouw from branding agency Richards Dee swooping a first-ever gold accolade in the Design category.

Celebrating the best creative work in the world, Cannes Lions takes place annually with 19,000 delegates from around the globe in attendance.  This year’s festival takes place 18-22 June 2018.

Deadline for submissions is Monday 5th March. Further information can be found here.
