Wunderman Thompson, a WPP agency, has announced that Anthony Romano has been appointed President, Wunderman Thompson, Minneapolis.  In this role, Anthony will act as a single market lead overseeing both the Wunderman Thompson and Mirum offices in Minneapolis.  Romano will be based in Minneapolis and will report to Ian Sohn, CEO, Wunderman Thompson Central.

A versatile marketing executive, Romano brings over two decades of experience driving award-winning work and results. Romano has a proven track record in building, leading and growing cross-functional teams at integrated global creative agencies, client-side digital and CRM practices, media and tech platform organisations, specialty digital shops and marketing consultancies.

Romano’s experience combines a rare mix of creativity, data, technology and media. Recently named to the Campaign US Digital 40 Over 40, Anthony was honoured for his track record in driving innovation and growth for some the most iconic brands in the world including Porsche, Harley-Davidson, Pepsi, Coke, General Mills, Citibank, Converse, Verizon, and Samsung.

Prior to Wunderman Thompson and Mirum, Anthony served as CEO of BBH in New York. He has also served as US Head of Client Services at R/GA, where he led the agency’s client teams across R/GA’s six US offices. Prior to R/GA, he served as global head of agency growth at AOL and held senior management positions at shops such as Publicis New York and Carmichael Lynch in Minneapolis.

“For me, this is a special sort of homecoming,” said Anthony Romano, President, Wunderman Thompson, Minneapolis. “To return to the city I love, where I started my agency career, and to do so with an agency I’ve always admired for its ability to innovate at the intersection of data, technology and creativity, is the perfect next chapter. I’m proud to be joining such a highly skilled and passionate team.”

“Anthony’s a driver—he’s grown some of the world’s biggest brands,” says Shane Atchison, CEO, Wunderman Thompson North America. “We’re building something special in Minneapolis and Anthony is the perfect addition to accelerate that growth. His experience will benefit our team in the region and beyond.”

In Minneapolis, where Romano spent eight years earlier in his career, he’ll oversee a combined team of over 200 people. He will relocate from New York to Minneapolis for the position.
