Work of the Week: 31/01/20
Given it's the *BigGame* on Sunday and all the crazed advertising hysteria that comes with, it'd be easy to fill Work of the Week with a bunch of Super Bowl spots. But there's a big world out there, people. We've got an ad for Australian Lamb that is equal parts thriller and comedy. The Aussie Lamb campaigns are always great and we're all for this one. Xbox UK released an actual Rough Guides travel book for all the mindbogglingly beautiful places you can visit in video games. I mean, if you've never done some casual sightseeing while playing Assassin's Creed, have you even played? Jonah Hill has also directed a peach of an ad for adidas Originals. Keep your eyes peeled for that. And Margaret Qualley stars in an intriguing short film for HP that sees her get to grips with her humanity in an increasingly digital world.
Alas, two Super Bowl campaigns do feature in this week's Work of the Week. Ellen DeGeneres' appearance in Amazon's Alexa ad is just the right side of silly. It made us laugh. And then there's Squarespace. Winona Ryder's trip back to her hometown of Winona speaks to our obsession with small-town Americana typography and architecture and it just makes us feel lovely and warm inside.
