Fragile Childhood & Havas WW Helsinki launch powerful film

Children don’t expect miracles - just simple everyday things; love, attention and security, a safe environment at home. It’s parents’ responsibility to ensure these basic rights are met. Parents choose what kind of home they create for their children, to play, to rest, to feel safe and to learn.

It is still not widely understood how much harm drinking problems at home cause to children, Fragile Childhood highlights this fact. For example, previous research has shown that every fourth Finnish child has suffered Some harm or emotional disturbance because of parent’s alcohol usage. Research carried out among Finnish teenagers aged 12-18 years shows that children think that their parents ought not to drink at home and that they are much nicer when sober.

Orphanages, as we remember them from the early 19th century, through classic movies and books, were a place where hopeful parents could visit and offer a loving home to orphan children. What if the whole situation was turned upside down? Welcome to The Orphanage of Adults.

We all know that children can’t choose their parents. But what if they could? Would that change the way we as parents behave? Would we act differently?

On 30th September Fragile Childhood published a new film called “The Orphanage” to raise awareness of parental alcohol abuse and promote the responsible use of alcohol in society by asking people to share their thoughts on the topic.

Fragile Childhood encourages people to participate in discussion about responsible parental alcohol use on their Facebook page application
