The ex-Glassworks producer led all Netflix Black Mirror work
UNIT Studios continues its creative hiring push - having recently moved to its new bespoke designed home on Berners Mews - by adding yet more talent to the growing longform team. UNIT previously brought across Dan Pagan as EP of TV & Film earlier this year to head things up and grow numerous creative opportunities as well as building on key industry relationships and UNIT awareness.

The most recent key hire sees Duncan Cook join the team from Glassworks as a UNIT TV & Film producer.

Owner and founder Adam Luckwell and partner Amanda Luckwell are thrilled to welcome Duncan as he is so well regarded in the industry and ensures an exciting next chapter further bolstering the long form offering.

During his many years working at Glassworks, Duncan produced spots for such accounts as NatWest, Weetabix, McLaren and Apple - all of which allowed him to cultivate his passion and skill for VFX production.

He then looked to move across to longer content by producing the CG and VFX for Charlie Brooker's highly anticipated Black Mirror Seasons 3 - 5, earning a Televisual Bulldog Award and two BAFTA nominations in the process.

A personal highlight of Duncan's would be his responsibility for all VFX shots throughout Netflix's first feature length interactive journey, Bandersnatch. This ranged from shoot attend via, amongst other challenges, plenty of head-scratching continuity concerns, and final delivery. The project included full CG environments, mind-bending hallucinogens, CG body parts, even full photo real humans - the results of which speak for themselves.

UNIT producer Duncan Cook comments: "It’s such a delight to join forces with UNIT as Adam, Amanda and the wider team are meaningfully invested in further growing and developing the TV & Film division. Seeing the award winning work that has been created so far (including the recent UNIT BAFTA nomination for Sky Atlantic’s collaborating with Amazon Studios on the TV series Britannia) gives me so much confidence and excitement about what the future holds.”

UNIT partner and EP Amanda Luckwell adds: “Duncan has such a proactive attitude as well as a creative vision, and his production experience on such highlights as Black Mirror means we look forward to numerous future collaborations.

With Duncan now in place we can also further develop our longform pipeline. We are so well placed to create the very best work and are excited about all the projects that are currently being worked on and look forward to their launch! It’s such an exciting time.

It is an exciting chapter for UNIT with our new home and a real focus on us bringing in the best talent across all departments. And with long-from a key focus Duncan was an obvious choice and will be a valuable addition - we look forward to his impact being felt.”
