Catchy new campaign puts a fresh twist on a hard rock classic

Tracks & Fields have reunited with Lufthansa to make the airline's new music-led campaign possible. The music agency worked their magic to ensure that the leading ad's key song could appear onscreen.

The 45-second spot, conceived by agency Kolle Rebbe and brought to the screen by production company Markenfilm to introduce the airline's new Premium Economy class, centres around a passenger who sees (or rather hears) the humdrum details of air travel quite differently. Visually sumptuous but also acoustically rich, it needed to culminate in something special – the perfect cover version.

Tracks & Fields licensed a very different take on Billy Idol's hard rock hit 'Rebel Yell'. The company's key role was to negotiate and secure approval for the use of the crucial track for re-recording, without which the campaign could never have taken off.

Singer-songwriter Duncan Townsend, who also stars in the ad, accompanies an inventive cover version of the smash created out of looped audio samples – clatters, beeps and shuffles familiar to any frequent flyer – actually recorded in an airport and onboard a flight. The single was recorded exclusively for the spot and is now available to download.
