Director Albert Uria helms the emotion-driven new campaign for Mexican insurance company GNP Seguros, just in time for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Mexico City-based agency Teran/TBWA enlisted the Garage Films director to highlight GNP’s above-and-beyond values as a company that cares about the personal lives of its policyholders, while celebrating the universal passion of soccer fans in Mexico.
Albert Uria crafts a powerful spot that gives a glimpse into the stories happening “fuera en la cancha” – or, off the field, in the world outside the stadium. Acclaimed editor Doobie White of Los Angeles’ Therapy Studios was brought in to weave the footage into an eloquent 2-minute narrative.
Before a sports announcer can scream the most exciting word of the World Cup - "Goooaaall!" - into a microphone to millions of people around the globe, a whole lifetime of experiences and preparation must happen. With a measured rhythm that increases in intensity, we're taken on a journey through the commentator’s life, both mundane and sublime, that culminates with him announcing the biggest sporting event in the world.
Perfectly timed cuts lead viewers on an emotional rollercoaster, from humble beginnings, through throat problems, grueling schedules, and into the frenetic spotlight of the world stage. Doobie White flexes his expertise for transitions, taking us back in time to reveal the surprising motivations and challenges that brought the commentator to his post. The pace is perfect and the touch is deft in building this beautiful story of someone who, while not a superstar player, nevertheless has a crucial role in the World Cup experience.
Albert Uria was thrilled with the outcome of his creative collaboration with Doobie, saying, “It has been extraordinary working with Doobie on this project here in Mexico. I have always been impressed with the results of his magic, but to actually witness him at work, with such laser-sharp focus and his flexible attitude with the client and creatives, was so wonderful. And with amazing results as usual. Aside from his editorial prowess, the most obvious and quintessential word to describe the experience of working with Doobie is the word FUN.”
