SpaceTime Enterprises and REWIND Unite to Democratise Space

Utilising AR and VR SpaceTime will allow everyone the opportunity to feel what it’s like to be an astronaut

Space, and the view of our planet from above, have the potential to unlock untold rewards for humanity. However, even with space tourism on the horizon, there are numerous barriers to entry with no short or medium-term solutions in place. Now, award-winning immersive content studio REWIND is joining forces with space industry experts, In-Space Missions, to remove those barriers, democratise space, and do for space tourism, what the internet has done for information.

SpaceTime Enterprises will launch multiple satellites into low Earth orbit, capturing and broadcasting live, real-time immersive video of the entire Earth, to deliver a view unlike anything currently in existence. Utilising VR and AR technologies, consumers, students, ecologists, scientists, business owners and others, will be able to experience and utilise this unique perspective of Earth - one only previously available to astronauts - free of the risks and prohibitive financial barriers of consumer space travel.

“Our goal is to present consumers and businesses with an experience that goes way beyond a view from space,” says Sol Rogers, CEO of REWIND. “By bringing live, world-class imagery to cutting-edge VR and AR headsets, we’re going to give the world a gift -- the ability to go on a journey and experience space in a way that has never been possible in the past without hopping on a rocket. In addition, through bleeding-edge ground-processing, we will also be using the collected data to create the most current gigapixel map of the Earth’s surface. This incredible asset will, initially, never be more than 11 hours old in its entirety as the satellite majestically passes over the earth's surface, and this time will decrease dramatically as we add additional satellites.”

Current satellite views of Earth from low orbit show only an extremely narrow-angle, and often do not produce a view, or information, which has a wide usage. With SpaceTime, users will be able to gain an entire earth view, in the highest-resolution possible and in real-time, producing information and images that will be not only breathtaking but useful to researchers and scholars.

Each application developed using SpaceTime will be designed to provide a true ‘wow’ moment, resulting in a revolutionary and disruptive influence on numerous sectors, including entertainment, broadcast, education, location-based, meteorology, ecology, and a host of as-yet unforeseen industries. While VR and AR experiences will vary from platform to platform and application to application, SpaceTime will also feature the ability to overlay information about the planet, meteorological systems, atmospheric phenomenon, celestial bodies and more, over the users’ view.

SpaceTime is set to launch in Q3/Q4 2019. Further investment is currently being sought to accelerate the programme and provide a greater service offering from the outset.
