Sound house also welcomes newly signed composer Jackson Milas

Nominations for the 2018 Screen Music Awards have been revealed and Sonar is excited to receive the highest number of nominations, with Sonar composer Matteo Zingales also achieving the most nominations overall. •

The creative partnership of Antony Partos and Matteo Zingales has earned the dynamic pair four nominations for screen compositions across the categories of Best Music for a Mini-Series or Telemovie for the highly acclaimed ABC drama Mystery Road as well as Wake in Fright (winner of the 2017 AACTA Best Original Music Score in Television) Ramin Bahrani’s HBO feature Fahrenheit 451 achieved nominations for Feature Film Score of the Year and Best Soundtrack Album.

Leading the field with six nominations overall, Zingales received two further nominations for Best Television Theme and Best Music for a Television Series for his work on Harrow. Partos is also nominated for Best Music for a Documentary for Lucasfilm’s The Director and The Jedi, which premiered this year at SXSW to rave reviews.

Coinciding with Partos and Zingales’ nomination success, newly signed Sonar composer, Jackson Milas, also scored a nomination for Best Music for an Advertisement with his Sonar debut project for Forty Winks.

Milas recently composed for the feature film Celeste together with Antony Partos, which premiered at MIFF. His career has seen him work internationally and his compositions have received widespread industry recognition. Prior to moving into composition, Milas’ band The High Highs signed to Elton John’s label Rocket Records and the group toured internationally to wide acclaim.''

Sonar executive producer Sophie Haydon says: “I’m incredibly proud of the Sonar team, to see their endless hours and hard work being recognised is the cherry on top of a fantastic year. To have our newest composer Jackson nominated on his first Sonar project speaks to his talent and we look forward to being part of his hugely successful future.”

Milas and Partos are currently working on the highly anticipated Stan series Bloom, starring Jacki Weaver, Bryan Brown and Phoebe Tonkin. The six-part supernatural drama centres on life in an idyllic country town a year after a devastating flood kills five locals. Bloom premieres on Stan this summer, distributed globally by Sony Pictures Television.•

The winners of the 2018 Screen Music Awards will be announced Monday, November 19th 2018.
