Venice, CA-based production company Slim has signed two new directors. Bram Van Alphen and Yvan Fabing will be represented by Slim for commercials and branded content in the US.

Bram Van Alphen is a lifestyle director with a background in design from the Advertising school and the Media Art Academy of Utrecht in the Netherlands. He is known for creating striking, dream-like imagery in everyday situations and has directed commercials for Kaufland, Helsana and most recently for Teylers Museum in Amsterdam. He said of his decision to join Slim:  “I can’t wait to co-create great, emotional and visual storytelling content with Slim. We both aim to produce highly creative work with integrity. It’s the main reason I’ve teamed up with them."

Yvan Fabing works primarily in fashion and often implements VFX to enhance his innate storytelling ability. Originally an art director on the ad agency side, he became a photographer in London before making the leap to directing. He has worked for several brands since then, including Y-3 Adidas, Givenchy and Nike and said: "When people ask me what I wish for in my career, I usually say that I want to keep getting better at what I do and to work with people I love and trust. Sometimes you meet new people and you know they will not disappoint you — for that reason, Slim is now part of it."

Tom Weissferdt, owner/EP at Slim, is confident that both directors will boost Slim’s profile: “Both Bram and Yvan approach their directing with considerable storytelling skills and a design mentality. Design in particular is not something that we have focused on previously and is a welcome extension of what we do.”

Slim is known for its impressive directing talent and as a supportive resource for agencies and brands. Slim recently produced the much-lauded Barbie “Dream Gap” spot with director Karen Cunningham and Manes Duerr is currently working on an automotive project in Los Angeles. ZCDC (Zack Canepari and Drea Cooper) directed their latest commercial, a stunning Cisco spot, that was shot in South Africa and they are wrapping a follow-up job for Facebook at this time.
