Spot focuses on Dale Earnhardt Jr, the son of the seven-time NASCAR Cup champion who died in the 2001 Daytona 500
In life, we don’t choose our names. They are given to us at birth. And with that birth right bestowed upon us by our fathers comes the promise it provides but also the burden of expectation. In a way, our names are both our greatest gift and greatest challenge.

And though our names will follow us throughout our lives, we are remembered not by the letters that make up our signature, but by the manner in which we live and how each of us must ultimately make a name for ourselves.
Our name is just the starting point. The finish line is what we do with it…

In the run-up to NASCAR’s Daytona 500 this weekend, Goodyear release their latest commercial focusing on Dale Earnhardt Jr (son of the seven-time NASCAR Cup champion who died in the 2001 Daytona 500) and his family heritage, directed by SKUNK’s very own Brent Harris.

As Dale Jr. and Goodyear look to grow their legacies in this next chapter, now is a pivotal time to help define what these names represent and what they will continue to stand for into the future.

As the torchbearer for a classic American brand, the people who work at Goodyear know what it’s like to carry on the legacy of an iconic name. Certainly no one knows this better than the son of Dale Earnhardt.
Being a part of the commercial was one of the easier decisions for Earnhardt, which includes the song "I Got A Name" and rare footage of Dale Earnhardt Jr and his father racing each other in NASCAR, as well as older footage of Dale Earnhardt Jr.

"I like to tell the story," Earnhardt said. "It makes for a good story. It makes sense to me with Goodyear because my Dad was a big fan of Goodyear... He would be right there beside me if he could, telling the same story."
