Salomon Ligthelm Signs to Stinkfilm
Today, Stinkfilm has announced the signing of Salomon Ligthelm to their global roster of directors (excluding France).
Salomon is a self-taught filmmaker, with a background in music and sound design. His textural and experimental work finds new ways of exploring visual storytelling, and seeks to blur the lines between narrative and documentary filmmaking.
Creator and co-director of ‘Anomaly’, a story about relationships that intertwine around an unprecedented astronomical event set in the 1960s, it was hailed as a game changer in independent filmmaking and was born from a successful Kickstarter campaign.
Other works include ‘Rocket Wars’, a short documentary following behind the scenes a holy tradition of rockets fired between two Orthodox churches, which went on to earn Salomon a Gold Young Directors Award this year. This was followed by a second YDA recognising his directorial skills for Audi ‘Rainmaker’.
On joining Stinkfilm, Salomon said: “I am deeply moved by raw passion and real people in craft and filmmaking, and from the beginning I’ve felt that Stink share the same powerful emotion and vision when it comes to storytelling. I’m looking forward to working together to bring this vision to life.”
Jeff Baron, Managing Director of Stinkfilm in USA said, “Salomon came to our attention almost a year ago. He encompasses all the elements of a great filmmaker and fits seamlessly into the culture at Stinkfilm. He has tremendous energy, strong family values and is incredibly self-motivated. He joins us at a perfect time, as Stinkfilm continues to build for the future.”
