Red Karavan has just completed a year long project, where they have created four holograms of the 'Queen of Blue Eyed Soul', Dusty Springfield.

A new 'fusion musical' about the legendary Dusty Springfield has opened at the Charing Cross Theatre, which feature Red Karavan's holograms performing on stage.

Using a blend of original archived footage and CG, Red Karavan has brought Dusty Springfield back to life to perform four of her hits in front of the theatre audience, including the iconic "Son Of A Preacher Man".

Creative Director Andy Taplin, comments: "This project was an epic challenge from the very first pre-production meeting, right through to delivery. Not only did we have to work with low resolution archived footage from the 1960s, we also had to carefully design choreography & wardrobe to make the performance as realistic as possible. Where footage was not available, we then introduced a vast amount of CG to replicate Dusty’s face and elaborate wigs.

Compositing these elements with the excellent performance of the body double, we were able to create four stunning holographic performances”

The show is currently running, so grab yourselves a ticket and watch Red Karavan's hard work perform for you in this state-of-the-art musical.
