So, I’m sure you’ll all agree that 2016 has been, in almost every way, the most rancid year for at least a decade. ‘Well, things can only get better,’ I hear dribbling from the lips of absolutely no one, and they’re probably right.
I’m not even going to go into the whole Brexit - Trump thing, we all know the story, though it’s more like a waking nightmare.
Deep breath, let’s try and be positive…
Even if most smart people aren’t happy about the choice for Pres, at least companies now know for sure what party and what person will be in charge for the next four years, and can plan and strategise their ad spend accordingly. I feel that the election process in the US, which starts two years before the actual election, causes unease and uncertainty in big business, and so they hedge and therefore get very conservative with both cash and ideas.
The Department of Justice has launched an investigation into US ad agencies' bid process shenanigans, whatever that may mean!
Furthermore, if ‘The Orange Lord’ is to be believed (ha), personal and corporate taxes will be reduced next year. That would be nice.
Okay, so that’s only three things, but it’s a start, right?
Oh, and computer chips will again be faster, smaller, and cheaper than 18 months ago, presumably.
Merry Christmas (which people are allowed to say again now, apparently) and a preposterous New Year.
