Naked Europe have partnered with LimitEar to launch www.hearangel.com, a website dedicated to its pioneering HearAngel app that will go into development later this year.
HearAngel is an innovative app for your smartphone that monitors how you listen to music and audio, and lets you know when you’re in danger of overexposure. It can even intervene to reduce sound to prevent you from exceeding your daily sound allowance and causing irreversible damage to your ears or those of your children. The app has received endorsements from Action on Hearing Loss and the Noise Abatement Society amongst other bodies and individuals, and operates according to World Health Organisation guidelines.
The repercussions of prolonged exposure to sound are becoming more widely understood: the World Health Organisation recently published findings showing that 43m people aged between 12 and 35 already suffer from hearing loss, half of which is due to exposure from unsafe sound levels from audio devices.
www.hearangel.com provides more information on how the app works, and includes an in-built audio player that simulates the effects of permanent hearing damage.
Users can also sign up on the website to be kept informed of the release date of the app.
LimitEar was formed five years ago to develop hearing dose management technologies for professional headphone users, and its HDM® Pro technology has been selected for use in military, live events and broadcast applications.
