Nainita Desai has scored programmes across the BBC, ITV, HBO and more

Manners McDade welcomes Nainita Desai to its roster of international Film and Television composers.

Nainita is a current BAFTA Breakthrough Brit 2016-17 and the winner of the Music+Sound Award 2016 for Best Feature Film Score, a Women in Sync Awards 2016 Nominee, RTS Craft Award 2014 Nominee for Best Original Music and RTS Scotland Awards 2014 Nominee.

Nainita has worked as a Sound Designer on numerous features including Little Buddha (Dir: B.Bertolucci), Backbeat (Dir: Ian Softley), Lessons of Darkness (Dir: Werner Herzog), August (Dir: Anthony Hopkins), and Hackers (Angelina Jolie) as well as contributing specialist music to Great Expectations (Ethan Hawke, Gwyneth Paltrow) and scoring over 30 major feature film trailers & promos (including for Borgen and Wallander).

Nainita’s musical foundations are rooted in documentary where she has forged an enviable reputation composing for hundred of series and feature docs, many of which have garnered OSCAR, BAFTA, EMMY and RTS Award nominations, such as the HBO film Children of Beslan, 9/11 – The Day That Changed The World, and The Day That Kennedy Died. Recent factual series include Britain’s Biggest Adventures With Bear Grylls (ITV), The Force (ITV), The Mekong with Sue Perkins (BBC), Street Patrol UK (BBC1), Dinosaur Britain (ITV), The Big Food Rescue (BBC1), and Wild Shepherdess with Kate Humble (BBC).

Also known for her work on dramas including Maxwell (BBC) and the factual drama To Kidnap A Princess (ITV), Nainita’s 2016 commissions included the acclaimed Brian Hill feature doc-musical Mumbai High-The Musical and feature film The Confessions of Thomas Quick (BFI/Film4/Picturehouse).

2017 documentary commissions include Earth’s Natural Wonders (BBC1), Hunt for the KGB Killers (C4 / Brian Woods), The Ganges With Sue Perkins (BBC1), and This Woman’s World (BBC).

Nainita is currently working on two feature film commissions; the BFI psychological horror Darkness Visible (Dir: Neil Biswas, co-creator of Sky 1 drama Lucky Man), and WW2 thriller Ni’ihau, currently filming in Pinewood Malaysia.
