Editor teams with agency Slingshot for charming new Texas Tourism campaign

Slingshot and Lucky Post have traversed the great state with two consecutive Texas Tourism campaigns. This year’s spots show off interesting places and activities, beloved by many and begging to be experienced by even more. The Texas Means Friend spot encourages viewers to explore the state like a local,” evokes the inclusive spirit of Texas culture and introduces the vast discoveries people make when they adventure beyond the beaten path.


“The idea was to expose people to new things, or at least new perspectives on things people love,” explains editor Sai Selvarajan, who discovered places he didn’t know about his home state while working on this year’s trio of spots. "We let the sound design guide the spots. We wanted to immerse people in these locations and let all their senses take them there."


Sweeping vignettes dive into the nooks that await travelers in this resource-rich state. Culture, friends, and food are the overarching themes that engage the senses with experiences to satisfy any taste. The spots compel audiences to discover the exotic blue Hamilton Pool of the Hill Country, enjoy space and time travel, from historical relics at NASA to Bolivar Point Lighthouse and to shuck fresh oysters on the Gulf of Mexico. Eclectic cuisine from around the globe finds a home in Texas, where Pad Thai is as Texan as fajitas and are savory highlights to the campaign.
