Global brand experience agency joins forces with Boris Johnson to see in 2015

Midnight on New Year’s Eve 2014 will mark the eleventh consecutive year that the London-based office of global brand experience agency Jack Morton Worldwide has produced the Mayor of London’s New Year's Eve fireworks display.

Over the past eleven years the creative team at Jack Morton has worked closely with the Mayor's Office to successfully deliver the highly-acclaimed event, which has become one of the most eagerly anticipated New Year celebrations in the world.

The display, which is focused around the EDF Energy London Eye, is a key highlight in the capital’s programme of cultural celebrations, throwing an international spotlight on the city. The event is reported by the world’s media and will be watched live by thousands of people on the banks of the Thames and millions more on BBC One.

“It is a great honour to create a show which year on year sets the bar in innovation and creativity, and one with the ambition to position London apart from the other New Year shows around the world.  Each year we see more and more people tuning in from home to watch our show in addition to those experiencing it live in central London which is a great testament to its success.”  Jim Donald, Project Director, Jack Morton Worldwide.

This year the event is ticketed for the first time.  Ticketing has been introduced to help manage crowd numbers and ensure the event remains safe and enjoyable. It is hugely popular and an estimated 500,000 headed into London to watch last year, the majority of whom were unable to get into the viewing areas. 100,000 tickets have been made available to the public for this year’s event, with ticket holders being guaranteed a good view of the display.

The Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: “London's New Year's Eve fireworks are phenomenally popular, not just in the capital, but across the world and we want to ensure it continues to be a safe, enjoyable and sustainable event for the long-term. After consulting with our partners, we have introduced ticketing to help manage crowd numbers and create a better experience on the night. For anyone without a ticket the fireworks are again being shown live and in full on television, meaning you can watch it in glorious HD colour, without missing a single second. And don't forget, there are hundreds of other New Year's Eve celebrations to enjoy in bars, restaurants and clubs across the capital.”

Jack Morton Worldwide works in conjunction with multiple agencies across the capital to ensure the event is planned and delivered in a safe way. These include:  Greater London Authority, Metropolitan Police, Westminster City and Lambeth Borough Councils, Transport for London, The Port of London Authority and London Ambulance Service, London Fire Brigade and many more.
