Every year Kingsday photographs its team in a unique way and, after last year's merge with 180, it was one tradition they wanted to carry over. However, with the merge came the challenge of numbers; how could they make a memorable team photo with so many people?
The solution was found in the worldwide trend of so-called
folding landscapes that appear to curl up on the horizon and fool your brain through a 90-degree perspective change. Photographing people this way has never been done before but 180 Kingsday isn't afraid to break the rules to create a world first.
Together with photographer Jasper Zwartjes and image manipulator Jan Hibma, 180 Kingsday made the impossible possible. "The result is really freaky", said Zwartjes. "Despite almost military preparation with tests, models and even scale models, we ran against the wall again and again. This had never been done indoors and never with people, and we now understand why, it was the most challenging, most frustrating but most fantastic job I've done in recent years."
