Independent Films and Indy8 Signs Jacob John Harmer

Independent Films and Indy8 announce the signing of director Jacob John Harmer. Following a brief stint at Acne, Jacob joins Independent/Indy8’s roster of talent for exclusive representation in the UK.

Jacob’s work is recognised for its ability to blend the intimacy of documentary film making with a cinematography which is naturalistic yet composed. This talent for combining beautiful intimate detail with the grand and inspiring has led to him directing for a raft of major international brands and companies including Nike, Microsoft, Nespresso, Vivienne Westwood and Vice.

In addition, Jacob’s skill in exploring a subject on a very personal level lends his work a depth which draws the audience in and connects them with its emotional narrative. These storytelling skills have seen him work with talent such as A$Ap Rocky, Little Mix, Hailey Baldwin, Adwoa Aboah and Sky Ferreira and produce ‘Run’, a short film for Nowness.

After graduating from the London College of Communication Jacob continued to build his technical skills as an editor, cutting shorts and promos. He then shifted his creative focus to fashion film and branded content with films featured at international film festivals including MFFF, AIFFF and the BAFTA accredited Aesthetica film festival.

The signing of Jacob follows a series of other recent appointments from Independent / Indy8, including Anderson Wright and Jonas McQuiggin (both Indy8), and Samir Mallal (Independent) as it continues with its commitment to nurturing the best and brightest talent in the industry.
