Andelman is known for energetic shoots that put his subjects at ease

Director Philip Andelman is now represented by IDENTITY for commercial projects. With a directorial aesthetic aptly suited for beauty work, Andelman is known for energetic shoots that put his subjects at ease and facilitate a seemingly effortless end result. Coming from the frenetic world of music videos where projects can require up to a hundred setups per shoot day, Andelman knows how to work quickly and efficiently, meticulously planning and storyboarding ahead of time while allowing spontaneity to blossom on set. His first directorial project for IDENTITY is scheduled to begin filming in October. You can view his reel here.

Focused on filmmaking since the age of ten, Andelman officially got his start in the industry interning for photographer Annie Leibovitz while still in high school. Upon graduation from NYU’s film program, he began working in music videos, eventually directing projects for the likes of Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Jay Z, John Mayer, and Rihanna. After helming a Kohl’s campaign starring frequent collaborator Lenny Kravitz, Andelman discovered a knack for commercial directing and has since completed spots for Warby Parker Target, and Verizon among others, earning a Bronze Clio along the way.

“My foray into the commercial realm was somewhat of a happy accident but has resulted in some of the most special working experiences of my career, and I’m looking forward to continuing that trajectory with IDENTITY. I’ve always heard wonderful things about IDENTITY and was blown away by how warm and inviting the team is,” Andelman said.

“Philip’s staggering music video background is impressive; he’s shot for the best of the best and I love the look of his film. What he brings to the table really rounds out our roster experience-wise, and to top it off, he’s a great guy,” shared Joe Masi, executive producer, IDENTITY.
