Scoundrel has announced a new partnership with
Ian Strange Studio for unique artistic projects in Australia, New
Zealand and Asia.
Based between New York and Australia, Ian
Strange is one of Australia's most acclaimed contemporary artists. His
multifaceted exhibitions and projects include film, photography,
sculpture painting and installations. He has held exhibitions at The
National Gallery of Victoria, Standard Practice Gallery New York, the
Canterbury Museum, the Art Gallery of South Australia, FAC and Cockatoo
Island's Turbine Hall. He has created large scale public art projects in
Detroit, New York, Ohio, Australia, Norway, New Zealand and Poland.
Strange was recently the subject of 'HOME: The Art of Ian Strange' a
six-part documentary series produced by ABC TV on his career to date.
In
2017 Strange formed Ian Strange Studio with long term creative producer
Jedda Andrews. Ian Strange Studio will continue to grow Strange's
unique creative vision beyond the gallery.
Last year Scoundrel
produced Strange's Sydney art exhibition 'SHADOW'. A multi layered
project incorporating suburban homes, documented in film and
photography. The exhibition was the first time his photographic and film
works had been shown in Sydney.
Says Adrian Shapiro, co-founder
and EP: "I couldn't be happier having Ian and his studio join the team.
His thought provoking work really resonates with audiences and we're
looking forward to producing work with him across various platforms."
Says
Strange: "As an artist I've always looked for ways to make work that
blurs lines between mediums and finds new audiences. I'm excited to work
with Scoundrel to expand my art practice outside of the gallery."
