Rodrigues, who was most recently President and CEO of Publicis Brazil will start his new role on November 16th
McCann Worldgroup today announced that Hugo Rodrigues has been named Chairman and CEO of WMcCann. He was most recently President and CEO of Publicis Brazil, an agency where he had also served as Chief Creative Officer before rising to the top position.

"Hugo is one the most successful Brazilian ad leaders today and a world-class creative talent, and we are very pleased he is joining us,” said Luca Lindner, President of McCann Worldgroup. “He is known for helping clients grow their businesses with big brand ideas which matches up with our multidiscipline strategies and capabilities.”

Rodrigues has been widely recognized, both for his leadership and for his creative work. He began his career as a copywriter in 2000, and was named VP-creative of Publicis Brazil in 2008, where he acted as Chief Creative Officer and COO prior to becoming CEO in 2014. In 2015 and 2016 he was named one of the five most admired Brazilian ad executives according to the Agency Scope survey of marketers, and in 2014 he was recognized as Brazil’s Creative Professional of the Year by Caboré – an award for which he is once again a finalist in 2017, this time as Industry Lead Executive.  He has won creative recognition at the major awards shows, including 17 Lions at Cannes, as well as at the Effie Awards.

"The work that McCann has been doing around the world for their clients is fantastic. The ‘Fearless Girl’ case, for example, has impacted and won the public worldwide and won every Grand Prix in Integrated Media,” commented Rodrigues. “Add this global strength to the responsibility to succeed the biggest name in Brazilian advertising of all time, Washington Olivetto. Me and all our team will have to work harder than ever to deliver everything that’s expected from our clients from now on. And we will deliver,” he continued.

Rodrigues will report jointly to Rob Reilly, Global Creative Chairman of McCann Worldgroup, and Fernando Fascioli, President of McCann Worldgroup Latin America & Caribbean. Martin Montoya remains as President for WMcCann, and will report to Rodrigues.

Rob Reilly, Global Creative Chairman of McCann Worldgroup, said, “I have known Hugo for many years and jumped at the chance to make him part of the McCann Worldgroup family. Of course, he is talented, but he is also one of my favorite people. And with the help of the other leaders in Brazil, they will create a culture of creativity, effectiveness, technology and humanity that will set WMcCann up for a very exciting future.”

"WMcCann, which has more than 300 professionals working in our São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro offices, serves a sophisticated group of local, regional and global clients,” said Fernando Fascioli, President of McCann Worldgroup Latin America & Caribbean. “Given Hugo’s outstanding track record across a wide range of clients and capabilities, we look forward to his driving all our resources and disciplines together in a creatively synchronized way to solve brand challenges for our clients.”

McCann Worldgroup, which last month was named Network of the Year at the Latin American Effie Awards, has been widely recognized with major creative awards throughout 2017.  It won the most top Grand Prix (six) at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity and became the most awarded Cannes agency in North America. Also this year, McCann won multiple Network and Agency of the Year honors at the London International Awards; was named Agency of the Year at the Clio Awards; Agency of the Year at The One Show; Network of the Year and Agency of the Year at the Cresta awards and at the Golden Drum Awards; North American Agency of the Year at the New York Festivals; Network of the Year and Agency of the Year at the International ANDY Awards, in addition to taking the Best in Show GRANDY award; Network of the Year, Agency of the Year, and Digital Agency of the Year at the ADC 96th Annual Awards; and was ranked the No. 1 Network Globally by The Midas Report.
