Ben most recently held a UX director role at AKQA

Huge London today announces the appointment of Ben Gonshaw as director of user experience.

In the last six months the Huge office in London has grown significantly to service clients across Europe and has seen a series of new business wins in the retail and financial services categories. As Huge looks to the future of inevitable marketplace disruption it continues to hire key talent to expand and further future-proof the agency’s broad capabilities. With a growing client roster, the office is expected to double its headcount by 2019 under the leadership of Alex Pym, managing director and Wayne Deakin, executive creative director.

In his new role, Gonshaw will report into Kieron Leppard, group experience director. His addition bolsters the growing experience and creative capabilities in London, helping create digital products from a user-centred perspective for brands in the region.

With over 15 years experience spanning roles as a UX director, experience lead and game designer, Gonshaw brings a wealth of experience to his new role at Huge. Most recently he held a UX director role at AKQA where he spent over eight years crafting satisfying interactions and elegant reward systems through natural interfaces like voice and gesture. He has worked closely with clients such as Volvo, BBC Earth, Nike Global Football and Nike Digital Sport to create disruptive ways to serve consumers better, collecting industry recognition from Cannes Lions and BAFTA along the way.

Previously, Gonshaw worked in video game development creating early AR games for Sony’s EyeToy and on Kinect with Nike and Microsoft. He was responsible for leading the UX, creating game mechanics, and managing teams of junior designers to collaboratively launch products.

“As we see a quickly growing client demand in the region looking to Huge to drive both physical and digital transformation, Ben brings a unique dual insight into how to serve brands and their needs, and how to build compelling experiences that foster deeper engagement,” said managing director of Huge London, Alex Pym.

On joining the agency, Gonshaw said: “Huge is a smart, creative led and forward thinking agency and I’m excited to help create the future alongside the brilliant team in London.”
