Production company continues tradition of nurturing new talent with latest signings

Hoi Polloi is making the next step in its commitment to nurturing new talent with the addition of Aaron Dunleavy and Aaron Dan Hodgson to its roster.

Aaron Dunleavy’s latest film is a short documentary. Its working title 'T.W.A.T.' stands for Tandem With A Trailer. Picked up while in production by BBC3, it was commissioned to be part of their strand 'Give Me A Voice'. The film launched on the BBC3 Facebook page under the title 'Alfie, The Odd Job Boy of Clitheroe'. It was shared over two thousand times and received over 5 million views in the first three days of its release this summer.

Aaron is 24 and based in Blackburn. He blends casting real people and actors, using unscripted and improvised performances, street casting and often non-professional young actors. His first student short, 'Throw Me to the Dogs' won 10 awards on the festival circuit. It was distributed worldwide via MUBI, and awarded a 'Best of the Month' Staff Pick on Vimeo.

Dan Hodgson is definitely a storyteller. His short ‘Love Is Blind’ was nominated for a Palme d’Or at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, a Moet British Independent Award for best British Short Film and was also featured on 'Short of the Week'. He is currently developing his debut feature with producer Lizzie Brown, and with development funding from the BFI.

These two join other outstanding breakthrough storytellers on the roster, including Ben A. Williams, Ian Aryeh and Eline.
