72andSunny Amsterdam launches 'Les Heures Magiques' to urge visitors to get out & enjoy the sun

To celebrate that summer is on the horizon 72andSunny Amsterdam is launching ‘Les Heures Magiques’ (‘The Magic Hours’), a new interactive mobile campaign for the Google app that offers visitors a way to discover places beyond the tourist hotspots and make the most of the extra hours of sunlight in Paris.

Created by the team behind the successful Google Night Walk project - an urban street art tour through the back alley’s of the Cours Julien neighborhood in Marseille - ‘Les Heures Magiques’ provides users with a mobile-first experience, showcasing fifty one places and free activities to experience in Paris before the sun sets. Collaborating with local experts, including the culture blog Paris Zig Zag, graffiti collective Underground Paris, and 13-time French ping-pong champion, Jean-Philippe Gatien, users are given a unique insight into Paris’s best-kept secrets.

Activities include sunset walks and picnic spots, a curated list of ping pong tables and petanque courts, concerts and ‘must see’ street art across Paris. Through an interactive Google map, users are also given the opportunity to navigate, or learn more about each location.

Produced with production studio UNIT9, ‘The Magic Hours’ uses cinemagraphs - videos where only part of the image is moving - to evoke the feeling of a summer evening in Paris, accompanied by a live countdown which lets users know how many minutes are left until sunset. Using a smart algorithm, the mobile experience also provides tailored recommendations based on the weather and time of the day, ensuring that both visitors and locals are able to make the most out of their time in the city.

Available in French and English, the interactive mobile experience runs from June 8th to July 5th and is a reminder that every day in spring gets longer by a few minutes, collectively adding up to a few magical hours that people should be inspired to make the most of.
