London agency tasked with re-presenting 12 historic cities for a US audience

The digital account for England’s Heritage Cities 2017 project  - aimed at re-presenting some of England’s most historically important cities to a younger US based audience - has been awarded to digital creative agency Hex following a competitive pitch.

The project will see Hex deliver a variety of digital assets including a mobile app, a website and video content as part of an integrated campaign tasked with increasing appeal and awareness of the 12 UK cities which form the England’s Heritage Cities consortium.

The project is one of a number of successful projects to receive funding from the £40 million Discover England Fund. The Fund is a central government initiative, administered by VisitEngland, and supported by match-funding from partners in the public and private sectors.  It aims to ensure that England remains competitive in the rapidly growing tourism industry, by offering world-class English tourism products to the right customers at the right time.

Talking about the agency selection process, Nicola Said, Project Lead at Marketing Cheshire said “We were impressed by the quality of agencies who put themselves forward for the project but Hex stood out in terms of the thorough market research they undertook as part of the proposal, their ideas for execution and their well thought through delivery plan.”

She added: “They have certainly hit the ground running and have impressed all 12 cities with their ability to draw out the most interesting content to ensure that this project will succeed in reaching new audiences. We are looking forward to launching this new product within the next 2 months!”

Benjamin Moore, Managing Partner at Hex said “We’re over the moon to be working with England’s Heritage Cities on what will be an extremely interesting and exciting project. England as a tourist destination has so much more to offer than much of the international community realise with some of the most fascinating heritage sites in the world; it’s now our job to shine a light on this.”

“Tourism is one of the most dynamic and rapidly developing sectors to be involved in right now. We’re already seeing the burgeoning impact of AR/VR and AI, with huge potential for creativity and intelligent product development to change the way people plan and book visits. We’re proud to be part of driving this change.”

Having relaunched in 2014 - with ex-Holler strategist Moore joining Managing Partners Matt Rogers and Stefan Ferguson - Hex have won clients including Michael Kors, Visit London, Harvard University and Bill’s Restaurants.
